The News:

November 03, 2014 - This is the first post of the season and there is not much to tell yet. The Detroit Santarchy is on Saturday December 20, 2014. There is no presale of the bus passes. They are only available the night of the event. Do not panic. It all works out because the buses act as shuttles, loading and unloading the Santas and Santa helpers throught the evening.

Stay tuned. More info will come after Thanksgiving.

*****************************************************************************

December 26, 2013 - Do you wish you had purchased a Santarchy Tshirt on Saturday? You still can. Just click here.

December 24, 2013 - Thanks to you who have already sent pics to the web site for posting to the permanant archive. Santa hasn't had a chance to start on that project yet. But soon my droogies... very soon. Until then, the Detroit Freepress has posted pics here.

December 21, 2013 - Santa always likes it if you share a picture or two with the website for the permanent archive, please email them to santarchist at detroitsantarchy dot com. Group pictures are always great. The thing that kills pictures from being usable at the site is being blurry. Otherwise, Santa is happy to see what you got.

December 20, 2013 - Okay Santas. We're in the homestretch of what is shaping up to be the biggest Detroit Santarchy EVER!! Given the size and scope of this rolling form of debauchery, its easy for shit to get outta hand.

We've done everything we can on our end to insure a fun and wild yet safe Santarchy but it’s important you freaks do the same. From the get go, make your plans now for a designated driver, a taxi, a hotel, etc...

Keeps tabs on who you came with and leave NO santa behind. When the buses make their last round at 1:30-1:45 a.m. make sure you’re not left on the shitter or at least let someone from your group know you’re having a moment. Between drinking the PBR's, consuming White Castle sliders, and the walking distance back to the Gaelic League, this could be a recipe for disaster. Don’t laugh. It happens every year.

As far as the buses go, it doesn’t matter which bus you rode in on or if you even came in on one of buses from the outskirts, if you purchased a bus pass (for only $20), you can ride ANY of our 12 buses from bar to bar all night long. At the end of the night, if you rode in from one of the remote pick-up locations, just make sure you hop on the right bus home. There will be a sign in the bus window identifying the city you came from. Try and stay sober enough to remember your city or... if you have the foresight, have a friend write your town's name with a Sharpie on your forehead at the start of the night; and then at the end of the night someone will guide you to the right bus when you are completely obliterated.

When boarding the buses in between bars, please have your 2013 pass visible. Each bus will have a helper onboard checking. It will make travel between bars a lot faster for everyone. You should see a bus every 5 minutes so, so don’t slow things down by trying to pack 10 lbs of shit into a 5lb bag. Another bus will be close behind.

So that bars are NOT inundated by a critical mass of Santas, each bus will start out going to a different bar. One bus to Harry’s, one bus to Nancy Whiskey’s, one bus to the Lagerhouse, and etc... As soon as they drop off a batch of Santas, the buses will start a rotation hitting all the bars consecutively and always returning to the Gaelic League. You are not obligated to get off at that first stop but it will sure help to get things rolling as smooth as it can be while transporting 1500-2000 raging alcoholics through downtown Detroit.

Be respectful of all your fellow Santas. We do not want to hear about ANY bad experiences from ANYONE so do your part and try and keep drunken marriage proposals down to a minimum. That’s all for now. I hope you weirdos learned something from this other than Santa sure sez a lot of SHIT.

~ Santa

December 17, 2013 - Some reminders... Bus passes will be available at the Irish Gaelic League at 2068 Michigan Avenue. They are $20 each. Plus, there is going to be a new cool Tshirt design available Saturday night along with other swag. And finally, Costumes... Costumes... Costumes! Make sure you wear a costume. More about that below.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

December 16, 2013 - To all you Santarchy newbies and slackers, a costume is mandatory. Now just to be clear, it's not limited to Santa suits and Santa helper outfits, although that's what you'll see the most of. Elves, Reindeer, Jack Frost, snowmen, yeti's, and etc... are all welcome and we appreciate your creativity and effort. The more twisted the better. Just NO lame ass ugly sweaters or street clothes and Santa hats.

So just to be clear... wear a costume and keep your Mom's ugly ass sweaters at home! Lameness will not be tolerated! Have fun and come up with somethin' cool and unique too...but GAWD!!!! No street clothes and a Santa Hat or you will be ostracized!

December 16, 2013 - Here's the Detroit Santarchy bus pick up locations for 2013. All buses are on a first come first served basis so get there early enough and buy that pass! We recommend 5:30-6:30pm. We've always been able to fit everyone on board but keep a plan B in place just in case. You can also purchase bus passes at The Gaelic League anytime after 7pm the night of the event.

Having said that, a fun Santa would never have a problem offering up lap space to a Santa's helper or squeezing together a bit more... than on a typical city bus... Keep it fun and respect your fellow Santas even though they may appear inebriated and unintelligible.

Anyways..here's the list. Bus passes are $20

* Ypsilanti: Corner Brewery 720 Norris St. - 6:45
* Ann Arbor: Blind Pig ,MI 208 First Street - 6:30
* Ferndale: Imperial 22828 Woodward Ave. ,Mi - 6:45 (2 buses)
* Livonia: K of C Hall 19801 Farmington Rd - 6:30 (2 buses)
* Dearborn: New Place Lounge 22723 Mich Ave. - 6:45 (2 buses)
* Monroe: 129 Lounge, 129 E. Front St.. - 6:30
* Plymouth/Canton: The Roc Bar ,1020 Ann Arbor Rd, - 6:30
* Downriver/Southgate: Mallies Bar, 19400 Northline,Rd, - 6:45
* Warren/Roseville: Johnny B Goode's 26230 Groesbeck Hwy, Warren, MI - 6:30

All buses head to the Irish Gaelic League 2068 Mich. Ave. Detroit,Mi. Around 8:30-9pm the buses will start to spread out to the 12+ bars . From that point with your bus pass you can ride ANY of the 12 chartered buses.

Once we evenly spread out you freaks, the buses will start a bus route stopping at EVERY bar. Keep in mind you may not go to the bar you want initially so just stay on or hop on another bus once they start the route. With 12 buses this year the bus wait time should only be 2-5 minutes maximum.

Just make sure at the end of the night you find the bus you rode in on and take it back home.There will be signs in the window letting you know your origination city. Please get back to the Gaelic League by 1:30-1:40am to make this happen. We will have chaperones again on each bus so make sure they can see your pass or you won't be allowed to board.

Drunkenly yours,
Santa

November 16, 2013 - It's time for the first post of the season and it's been a very busy year. The NSA has been coming down very hard on Santa. Why you ask? Why would the NSA be interested in Santa, a drunken old man who spreads cheer around the world? Come on... Think about it. I got the list. You know... THE LIST. The one with who's naughty and who's nice. They want it and they got the hammer. Ever try traveling internationally without a passport or a visa? I even got weird emails about a Korean jetliner that was shot down in 1987 and links to a documentary about TWA Flight 800. Oh yeah, they can make things difficult... very, very difficult.

So Santa thought about shutting the whole thing down. After all. It's my list. Not theirs. But shutting it down? How can I disappoint the kids? I can't. And I can't disappoint you either. You will get your Santarchy on Saturday, December 21st. And then down the line... If you see pics on the news of Santa in an orange jump suit, being led around in chains at a tropical location with a bunch of other long beards, you'll know what happened. More details to come.
